Practice Area 01 · Onboarding

The first thirty days decide the next four years.

Onboarding is everything a new subscriber or first-time customer hears from you after they say yes. Get it right and they open your emails, trust your brand and buy again. Get it wrong and they quietly forget you exist.

Welcome Series · First Purchase · Post-Purchase Education

Example flow · first 30 days
Day 0Welcome“Here’s who we are”
Day 2Brand story“Why we make it this way”
Day 5First purchase“Picked for you”
Day 9Order shipped“How to get set up”
Day 21How-to“Getting the most from it”
Day 30Second purchase“Ready for the next one?”

§ WHAT IT IS

What onboarding actually covers

Onboarding starts the moment someone joins your list or places a first order. It’s the welcome series, the order and shipping messages, the how-to content, and the nudge toward a second purchase. Most brands set up one welcome email and stop there.

A good onboarding program does three jobs. It tells new people who you are and why you’re worth hearing from. It helps first-time buyers get value from what they bought. And it gives them a clear reason to come back. Each message is triggered by what the customer did, not by the marketing calendar.

§ SIGNS IT NEEDS WORK

Sound familiar?

New subscribers sign up, then never open another email

The welcome email gets opened once, then engagement drops off a cliff.

People buy once and you never hear from them again

There’s no plan for the weeks between the first order and the second.

Customers don’t know how to get the most from what they bought

Returns, support tickets and quiet churn often start with confusion in the first few weeks.

Your welcome email hasn’t changed in years

It still mentions an old offer or product line, and nobody has checked it since it went live.

§ WHAT I BUILD

An onboarding program that does the work for you

01

Welcome Series

A short sequence for new subscribers that introduces the brand, sets expectations and earns the first purchase, paced to what each person opens and clicks.

02

First Purchase

Order, shipping and delivery messages that do more than confirm. They reassure, help set up the product and point toward what to buy next.

03

Post-Purchase Education

How-to content, tips and check-ins timed to when the customer is actually using what they bought, so the second order feels obvious.

§ HOW IT WORKS

How we’d work together

01

Audit

I review every message a new customer gets from you today and map where they drop off. You get a ranked list of what to fix.

02

Rebuild

I build the new flows inside the platform you already use, whether that’s Klaviyo, Braze or HubSpot. Most rebuilds take 8–12 weeks.

03

Measure and refine

Once it’s live, I track how many first-time buyers come back for a second order and keep adjusting. Ongoing support is there if you want it.
